Blood Ties
Just finished watching Blood Ties, and this is now one of my favorite new shows. It's based on the novels by Tanya Huff, which I will now have to start reading. Here's the summary from tv.com:

Based on the novels by Tanya Huff, this show revolves around PI Vicki Nelson - formerly a detective with the Metropolitan Toronto Police. She was losing her sight, but quit the force rather than accept a desk job. However, her last case turns out to be a doozy, involving vampires and the supernatural. She decides to team up with a vampire named Henry and ex-lover Mike Celluci to battle the forces of evil both normal and paranormal.

Here's a couple quotes from the first episode which made me like the show even more, I have to have humor in my sci fi shows or its just not worth it:

Vicki: So she fed on you?
Henry: That's one reason to take a mortal lover.
Vicki: Didn't you notice the marks on your neck?
Henry: My neck wasn't the only place she put her mouth.

Henry: I've lived a long time… almost 500 years.
Vicki: Wow! Yeah, I wouldn't have pegged you for a day over 450.
Henry: I use a great moisturizer.

Two other things this show has going for it: its a Canadian show( I have to support the Canadian shows, okay how many shows do I watch now that are filmed in Vancouver, I think almost all of them), and plus Kyle Schmid.

Current Mood: blahblah
Current Music: Stargate Atlantis Season Two

You picked too of my favorite lines. I'm so glad to find another Blood Ties fan. :) (Technically it was Moon_Chylde I found you through, but still. *grin*)

I enjoyed the books as well and Tanya Huff's blog following the season that aired in America.

Can't wait to hear what you think of the Blood Books.

Great mood theme by the by.

Their was actually an interview with Kyle Schmid in the local paper about Blood Ties and how it was airiing tonight. So it was a good thing I read the paper today. I try to watch Canadian shows to support them, so I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome the show was.

Very excited about reading the books, I'm sure I will like them.

The McShep mood theme is by far my favorite, I don't think I ever want to change it :-)

Definitely lucky you read the paper. I watch way too much tv and saw ads for it for a while leaving me primed and ready for when the show debuted. I'm still waiting to find out if Lifetime will pick up the second season beyond that second half of the first season they're trying to pass off as season two.

McShep, I can see never needing to change it. What I need is a Daniel Jackson Theme to really be happy.

You're the second person on my Flist to say that Blood Ties is a great show. When snoopoony first told me about it, I didn't have time to check the show so I just bought the first book... and I liked it very much!
I'll try to find some time to watch the show and I'll tell you if I like it :)
Btw, these two quotes are in the book too.

Sounds likes I would like the books then, I'll have to make sure and read them. Hopefully it lasts longer than a season though, poor Dresden Files only lasted a year(I'm still fuming over that one).

Have it on DVR so will get around to it. The review in the Star wasn't glowing but - hey - its a vampire show!

Surprisingly, the Edmonton Sun had a fairly good review for the show, so YAY for vampire shows.
